January 2016 was the beginning of a life changing journey... the discovery that color can bring happiness.
Thats when I started my business as a independent distributor with SeneGence. I got to play in cosmetics and skin care everyday and that was pretty exciting, But what I found on that journey was not only did a little color bring happiness to myself but it put smiles on everyone else's faces who tried it on. I was helping to spread happiness, self love & confidence around the world.
On my journey over the past few years I have experienced many things but after becoming a certified MUA with our company I found that I truly love to teach people how to take care of their skin and apply cosmetics. Because honestly, you are not an expense, YOU are an investment, YOUR skin is an investment, YOUR happiness is an investment YOU ARE WORTH IT!!!!
One thing that you must have when doing your makeup is great tools and that all starts with your brushes. When I'm teaching someone to do makeup I like to use brushes that are affordable to everyone but that are good quality. You don't have to have an expensive set of brushes, just a good set. Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love a set of Sigma's, but the brushes I am suggesting are pretty dang good, especially for their price
Real Techniques brushes are the ones that I like to use. Honestly, they have so many different ones but today I'm going to share with you some of my favorites. With Real Techniques brushes they color code the brushes according to what you use them for.

Orange is your Base Set or Core Collection. Pink is your Sculpting Set and is all about your finish. Purple is all about the eyes. You will also notice that the sponges are color coded the same way.
I will be talking about a variety of brushes but the ones that you see in the pics are the brushes that I use and love. I will share links to where you can buy them online but you can also find them at most Target stores.
BASE SET (CORE COLLECTION): These you will recognize by their orange color. They are amazing brushes and will help you create the perfect canvas. My absolute favorite of these brushes is the Expert Face Brush (this one you have to purchase separately).
This set contains the following brushes:
-DETAILER BRUSH: It's a precision cut brush and perfect for applying concealer or eyeshadows in areas where you really want to get detail.
-CONTOUR BRUSH: This brush is very soft and is perfect for contouring especially with powders or bronzers. I personally don't use this one for my creamy cosmetics for contouring, I prefer the Expert Face Brush for that.
-BUFFING BRUSH: Perfect for blending your cream contour out a little more.
-POINTED FOUNDATION BRUSH:
-EXPERT FACE BRUSH (Sold Separately): This brush is one of their #1 selling brushes and can be used to apply foundation. Our products that I like to use this brush for is, the MakeSense Foundation or the Color Correcting Tinted Moisturizer and I also like to use it to apply our creamy cosmetics for contouring and for applying my cream blush, BlushSense.
SCULPTING SET (FINISH COLLECTION): These you will recognize for their pink color. These brushes will help you define your features and takes your look to the next level by helping you finish off your look.
This set includes the following brushes:
-SCULPTING BRUSH: This brush has a wide, angled head that is perfect for contouring. I personally like to use this one with our creamy cosmetics for contouring. Our products I like to use for contouring are our darker shades of MakeSense Foundations or our Bronzing Powder.
-SETTING BRUSH: This brush has a soft, feathered head and is perfect for applying & setting your powders, especially under the eyes. It's also great for applying powder highlighters. I personally like to use it with our Translucent Powder to set my makeup under my eyes or with our MakeSense Pearlizer to give my skin a beautiful glow.
-FAN BRUSH: This brush has a soft and feathered head which allows you to lightly apply a highlighter across your cheek bones and down your nose.
-BLUSH BRUSH (Sold Separately): This brush is custom cut to contour and define cheeks. It is also great for applying loose powder or going over your contour with bronzer and of course for applying powder blushes. Our products that I like to use this brush with are our Translucent Powder & Bronzing Powder.
-STIPPLING BRUSH (Sold Separately): This brush has different lengths of bristles and is the trade secret with creating an airbrushed look, that is when you are using the tapping technique. I like to use this brush with our MakeSense Foundations.

Lets talk sponges...
Makeup Sponges are another option for applying CC Cream, Foundations & Concealers. They will give you a smooth and enhanced finish. You can use them damp or dry but for a smoother finish I highly suggest using them damp. I even like to use our Hydrating Facial Serum Mist to moisten the sponge. As you can see they are color coded just like the makeup brushes so lets talk about them.
ORANGE SPONGE (Miracle Complexion): This one is specifically goes with the Base Set. It has a rounded side that is perfect for blending. It has a flat edge that is perfect for contouring and a pointed tip for concealing.
PINK SPONGE (Miracle Sculpting Sponge): This one specifically goes with the Sculpting Set. It is great for defining and highlighting features with liquid or cream contour makeup. I personally like to use this one with our darker shades of MakeSense Foundation to contour with).
PURPLE SPONGE (Mini Miracle Complexion Sponge): These are soft and flexible foam with a flat edge and a pointed tip that are perfect for fast and easy touch ups on the go. I personally like to use them to apply my concealer, especially around my eyes,

Last but not least, lets talk about the eyes... one of my favorite features on a face.
EYES STARTER SET: These you will recognize by the purple color. Using the correct make up brushes will take your eye looks to a whole other level.
The brushes that are included in this set are:
-DELUXE CREASE BRUSH: This brush is a soft oversized brush that helps with contouring in the crease of your eye. I personally love to use these with my cream to powder ShadowSense eyeshadow colors.
-BASE SHADOW BRUSH: This brush is smaller than the crease brush and is perfect for applying a smooth and flawless foundation of color all over the lid.
-ACCENT BRUSH: This brush is very small and is designed for detailing, spotlighting and highlighting. I personally like to use it for my more detailed looks and to apply the highlight color under the brows and in the corner of the eyes.
-FINE LINER BRUSH: This brush is perfect for giving a smooth application of liquid or cream eyeliner. I personally use it with our ShadowSense eyeshadow and apply it as a liquid eyeliner.
-BROW BRUSH: This brush will help you easily define your brows. I also use this brush to apply our ShadowSense eyeshadow to my brows. The colors that are perfect for brows are; Red Hair: Garnet or Moca Java Matte. Brown Hair: Moca Java Matte, Smoked Topaz Matte, Garnet or Rustic Brown. Blonde Hair: Moca Java Matte. Black Hair: Onyx or Rustic Brown
They have many more brushes for you to choose but I hope this helps you to know which ones to use and for what. Sometimes in the beginning that can be a bit of a learning curve. If you have any questions please let me know
I have included links to the following brush sets.
XOXO,
Crystal
